I have a lot of cookbooks – I read them like most people read novels and when there are stories that go with the recipe, even better! The problem with just reading the cookbooks, is just that, I’m just reading the cookbooks. I’ve decided to make a change and make the recipes from these cookbooks – and not just one or two, but really dive in. I mean, why would someone put so much time and energy in a book for someone to only make one or two of the recipes.
This month I’ve picked recipes from the Betty Crocker Lost Recipes cookbook – other recipes will be sprinkled in from other sources. I picked it up a few years ago on a whim while at Sam’s – the fun, whimsical cover caught my eye. I made a few things right after I purchased the book and then it sat on the shelf until just a few days ago. I was desperate for something other than a kid’s book or Highlights High Five to read, so I picked it up and started really reading the recipes. Here’s the line-up for what I’m going to try this month:
Sausage Cheese Balls (pg 17) – I’ve made them before but never with a recipe – probably should try with a recipe…
Slow Cooker Sauerbraten Beef (pg 85) – made 3.19.2021
Cantonese Chicken Chop Suey (pg 107)
Cherry Swirl Coffeecake (pg 110)
Danish Puff (pg 117)
Applesauce Doughnuts (pg 123) – made 3.14.2021
Stir n Roll Biscuits (pg 126) – made 3.13.2021
Irish Soda Bread (pg 141) – it is March… – made 3.17.2021
Pumpkin-Cranberry Pecan Bread (pg 142)
Caramel Snickerdoodle Cake (pg 178)
Velvet Crumb Cake (pg 182) – made 3.20.2021
Looks a little heavy on the bread/desserts, but that’s how I roll – ha! I’m funny!!
